Sunny today lets hope the weather holds for Hawkshead Show tomorrow.
We had a walk down to Esthwaite Water last night and you can now walk from Ees Bridge to the car park near the fish farm or what was the fish farm, it is now called  Esthwaite Water Trout Fishery. They have opened up the path and placed duck boards at the boggy places but they have also made the car park pay and display!!!

Another rare day without departures or arrivals so we sneaked off for an hour and drove down to Finsthwaite, Check out this link for some myths and Legend The Finstwaite Princess   We parked up and walked up to and around High Dam, it was a bit cloudy but it is a stunning setting, a bit like Tarn Hows but not as many people and free parking.

A rare picture of us both

Misty mornings usually make for good days and yesterday was one of those days, today is looking the same.

Another damp day I'm afraid. the forecast is supposed to be a getting better kind of day but it has not really happened.
We had Bill Jill and Alfie the dog in last week, thet had a bit of an incident around Bowness Bay apparently, Alfie loves swimming and ran into the lake and proceeded to try and round up the ducks, it took 40 minutes to get him out and a crowd had gathered to watch, they even had to radio the steamer to stop it coming in a hitting Alfie. Bill said there was a round of applause when they finally got Alfie on dry land, I am keeping an eye on you tube becase there were lots of poeple filming the ecapade

BBC antiques expert Anita Manning and comedienne Jenny Eclair were out and about in Sawrey today, they were spotted coming out of the Tower Bank Arms, they look to be filming some sort of daytime TV antique/celeb road trip programme in vintage sports cars, the picture below sort of spoils the road trip theory !!

Tuesday, August 09, 2011

Its a fantastic sunny day in Sawrey with lots of visitors about, Hill Top has sold out once more leaving a lot of people disappointed.
I had to nip of to Hawkshead this morning and the hanging baskets outside the Queens are brilliant.

Yesterday a contractor from the Royal Mail turned up to paint the post box, he was a nice bloke who clearly took pride in his work, we supplied  him with tea and biscuits to keep him going.
