Drama in the village today, neighbours of ours heard a smoke detector going off in a holiday cottage and went to investigate to find the kitchen full of smoke all the doors locked and the sound of a dog barking, they rang 999 and were told on no account open the door as there me be a danger of a back draft causing the whole place going up in flames. The fire brigade arrived and went in the house to find  two little Chihuahuas which sadly had been overcome with fumes, the holiday makers arrived back at the cottage and were understandably distressed.

A horrible day today cold wet and blustery, we did manage a walk between the showers yesterday, almost a full house full tomorrow and then a couple of vacancies mid-week.  All of a sudden spring has sprung and it is so green everywhere, these pictures are as they were taken no messing about with photoshop to change the colours.

We have had a couple warm sunny days but its all down hill from here they say.
A full house tonight and just one couple to arrive so hopefully a walk in the sunshine is on the cards

The rain stayed off for the festivities in Near and Far Sawrey this afternoon and the sun is trying to break through.

A damp dreary day today which is a shame as its Sawrey May Fair this afternoon, hopefully it dries up.
We were awoken by the phone ringing in the early hours not a great time for a phone call the conversation went like this
Me "Hello"
Man "Hello is to early to ring?"
Me " I dont know what time is it?
Man " 6am I was not sure what time you got up"
Me " Well its to late you have already rung"
It was some booking agent changing a booking in August!!! It just couldn't wait.

Another funny phone call yesterday after breakfast a guest had just got up from the table after his breakfast and rang from his room for the Wi-Fi code, isn't technology wonderful?

These first two pictures are locals gardens in the village I snapped after a walk up to the tarns last night.

At 7am it was pouring down and at 7.45am on my way up to Buckle Yeat I took these three pictures!
Me and Denis had a run through to Kendal right after breakfast to pick up hundreds of begonia plants we had ordered from  a guy on the market, Denis was well pleased with the quality of the plants and we have been busy making up some baskets for the summer, if there is a problem they may peak too early
